Vahid Shahbazi is an Iranian athlete, multiple medal winner at the IFMA Muay- thai World Championships and gold winner at the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Championships. Now living in Bangkok, Thailand, Vahid grew up in a small city south of Tehran and competed internationally representing the Iranian National Team for six years. Vahid is an ambassador for the IOC recognised sport, Muaythai and works for the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur Athlete’s Commission to pro- mote peace and intercultural dialogue through the sport. In 2016, Vahid represented IFMA at the UNESCO Asia-Pacfic Youth Dialogue Forum in Chengdu, China where he addressed the Congress with a touching speech, sharing his story as an athlete, his dreams, his hopes and the sacrifices he made to become a champion. Vahid places significant emphasis on his own personal experiences in learning to communicate with other cultures and is a strong supporter of intercultural dialogue through sport.
